(a)By Councillor Gordon Matheson:-

"Council respectfully commemorates the United Nations' Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January, marking 70 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp where an estimated 1.1 million people were murdered; commends the organisers of Holocaust Memorial Day which continues to serve as a reminder and warning to current and future generations of the unspeakable inhumanity that people are capable of visiting upon others and the dangers of hatred, bigotry, racism and prejudice; commits to ensuring that the memorial day continues to be appropriately marked so that its lessons and memory are never forgotten." View Papers
(b)By Councillor Mhairi Hunter:-

"Council recognises the real difficulties faced by many families due to the inadequacies in the catchment areas for schools across the city. Council therefore calls for a city-wide review of Primary School catchment areas." View Papers
(c)By Councillor Dr Martin Bartos:-

"In the light of the tragedies experienced by Glasgow in recent years and paying tribute to the consistent efforts of its citizens as passers-by to help; Glasgow City Council recognises its responsibilities in educating its youngest citizens as well as providing opportunities to Glaswegians of all ages to learn to help their fellow citizens.

This Council notes existing efforts on the part of many though not all schools in Glasgow to teach first aid and endorses the British Heart Foundation goal of seeking a Nation of Lifesavers. Council therefore instructs Education Services to further develop, implement and integrate age appropriate instruction city wide on dealing with emergencies for every pupil age group, with the goal that before the end of 2016, by school leaving age, every Glasgow educated school pupil has had training in basic CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

Further this Council seeks to use its influence with Glasgow Life and connections with health and third sector stakeholders, to ensure that resources are put in place to signpost Glasgow's adult citizens towards resources and local groups providing education in CPR, first aid and emergency response. In particular, the Council seeks to ensure that before the end of 2016 every Glasgow Life venue - every library, museum and sports facility - prominently displays information guiding Glaswegians to learn how to be a lifesaver." View Papers
(d)By Councillor Soryia Siddique:-

"Council recognises the challenging financial constraints facing local government finance as a result of budget cuts and political decisions taken by the Scottish and UK Governments; notes that Glasgow's share of the Scottish Local Government settlement in 2015/16 has reduced to 12.81% from 13.91% in 2008/09, recognises that if the city's share had not been cut by the Scottish Government the 2015/16 budget would have included an extra £109 million; further notes the Scottish Government's record underspend of £444 million during a time of deep austerity and believes this money would be better invested in delivering high-quality public services; fully supports the efforts of the Council Leader to claw back Glasgow's share of the underspend so that it can be used to meaningfully tackle the root causes of poverty in the city and calls on all elected representatives to foster and promote a city-wide campaign to stand up for Glasgow and reclaim Glasgow's missing millions." View Papers
(e)By Councillor Alistair Watson:-

"Council welcomes calls for a future UK Government to give local authorities and city regions more power over their public transport networks including routes, fares and the ability to integrate their transport services; notes that such proposals in Scotland would allow Glasgow and Clyde Valley to better regulate bus services as is currently done in London; strongly believes that the transfer of such powers would lead to an increased number of citizens using public transport and a more sustainable and environmentally responsible city with lower city centre pollution; and agrees to make robust representations to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport in support of the devolution of similar transport powers to Glasgow." View Papers
(f)By Bailie Elizabeth Cameron:-

Council is proud to designate 2015 'Glasgow's Green Year' marking the 250th anniversary of the combustion engine's conception by inventor James Watt while walking on Glasgow Green, noting that this event played a pivotal role in the industrial revolution, transforming both Glasgow and the world; is proud that Glasgow is now at the forefront of a different industrial revolution in green industries which add £787.5m to the city economy annually and employs 18% of the total Scottish renewable workforce; resolves to continue to pursue a green agenda which grows green jobs and contributes to a more environmentally sustainable city and world." View Papers
(g)By Councillor Norman MacLeod:-

"This Council welcomes the recent introduction of Universal Free School Meals for all Primary 1, 2 and 3 pupils in its schools. Council notes the social, health and educational benefits of providing a nutritious meal for our youngest pupils. The provision of universal free school meals complements existing Council policy in relation to providing the options and support that children need to be ready to learn.

Council therefore requests that the Chief Executive write on behalf of the Council to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Development to endorse the work of the Scottish Government in this area of policy." View Papers
