Biography

Chris was born in Edinburgh in 1953 and migrated to Australia with his family in 1960. He returned in 1976, living first in Edinburgh but moving to Glasgow in the early 80's.

He obtained a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Western Australia (1971-75). Following his return to Scotland he obtained a post graduate Diploma in Housing Administration from the University of Stirling (1980-82).

Chris joined Shettleston Housing Association as a Housing Officer in 1982, becoming Director in 1989. From 1989 to 2000 Chris served as a member of the Council of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations. He was Chair of the Federation from 1995 to 1998.

Chris was seconded to Glasgow Housing Association from June 2000 to December 2002, helping to set up the new organisation and heading up the original Investment Team. He returned to Shettleston in January 2003.

Chris has lived in Scotstoun with his family since 1992. He is married to Lindsay, who comes from Knightswood, and they have two grown up daughters, the older now living and working in Bristol and the younger at Aberdeen University.

Chris joined the SNP in 1971 while still in Australia. He was elected as a Councillor for Garscadden/Scotstounhill in a by election in October 2016.
