What is it?

The Maryhill TRA covers two areas separated by historic Maryhill Locks on the Forth & Clyde Canal: to the South of Maryhill Road; and, North of Maryhill Road at Gilshochill.  The aim of the TRA is to transform the area and provide a new sustainable mixed tenure community which can benefit from links to the canal and River Kelvin.

Development works have been carried out by Maryhill Housing Association (MHA) and Cube Housing Association generating over 225 units for social rent and affordable housing at the Maryhill Locks. A further 73 units were developed by BIGG Regeneration for private sale and a final phase for private development marketed by City Property for about 100 units.

The regeneration of the Maryhill Locks area continues with MHA on site at the Botany (Phase 7) delivering a 62 unit mixed tenure development and self-builders now on site at Bantaskin Street, with the first completed in late 2021.  Planning has also being approved for a Barnardo's Gap Homes development.

The North Maryhill Blue-Green Infrastructure Vision has been developed and a design team has been appointed to progress.  Funding opportunities are being explored to deliver the works.
