What is it?

The Pollokshaws Transformational Regeneration Area (TRA) is a thirteen hectare site straddling Shawbridge Street, bounded by Pollokshaws Road to the West, Ashtree Road/Riverford Road to the North, and Nether Auldhouse Road to the South.  The project seeks to create a successful City suburb in the Pollokshaws area by focussing on housing renewal within a landscape and open space framework and examines the scope for wider regeneration opportunities including commercial and civic facilities.

A significant programme of clearance and demolition completed in 2016 by Wheatley Group facilitated the delivery by Wheatley Group and Home in Scotland of 365 Social Rent, 24 Mid-Market Rent and 40 re-furbished flats for MMR funded via the Scottish Government's Greener Homes Innovation Scheme.

Urban Union are progressing Phase 2 of private development housing with associated car parking and landscaping south of White Cart River.  Phase 1 has completed with 32 homes now occupied.

Wheatley Group received planning consent in March 2022 to develop the former police station at Shawbridge Street, which will deliver 35 mid-market rent flats.  A further 70 MMR units are planned for the former Pollokshaws Arcade site by Wheatley Group.

The Connecting Pollokshaws project is progressing with Sustrans funding and Atkins consultatns appointed to design improvements to local active travel routes.
