Nitezones

NiteZone taxi ranks operate on Friday and Saturday nights between 11 pm and 4 am and are staffed by taxi marshals who are responsible for managing the queue and assisting people into taxis to return home safely. Marshals use radios to seek assistance, if required, from the police and public space CCTV in the event of issues. Marshals also connect with partners such as the Street Pastors Service to help vulnerable people who need assistance.

There are six NiteZones, four in the City Centre, one in the West End and one in the South Side:

  • Gordon Street - opposite Glasgow Central
  • Sauchiehall Street - outside The Garage nightclub
  • Byres Road - at the entrance of Ashton Lane (staffed between 10pm until 2am)
  • West George Street
  • Shawlands - opposite The Shed Nightclub (staffed between 11.30pm until 3.30am)

The NiteZones are supported by Police Scotland who have additional officers in the City Centre at weekend evenings as part of the City Centre Policing Plan.
