Glasgow's Covid 19 Vaccination Centres

Glasgow has six Covid 19 vaccination centres.

Vaccination centres are operated by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and it is the NHS who will invite you to an appointment at a vaccination centre (not the council).

Self-Isolating

From Sunday 1st May 2022, the Scottish Government public health advice for those with symptoms of Covid-19 and those who have received a positive test will change from the need to self-isolate to the request to "stay at home". Citizens will be no longer advised to take a PCR test and instead will be asked to stay home while unwell. Scottish Government guidance is available here.

Testing

On the 30th April, free lateral flow tests will no longer be available for the general public except in high risk circumstances such as health and social care workers, care home and hospital visitors, patients groups eligible for treatment, hospital patients, unpaid carers and people in prison.

Children and young people aged 18 and under with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, do not need to stay at home unless experiencing a fever.

Protect Scotland App/National Assistance Helpline

The Protect Scotland app and the National Assistance Helpline will also cease from the 30th April. From the 31st of May the High-Risk list, previously named Shielding list will also come to an end due to the success of the Vaccination programme.

Stay at Home Support

If you require support during your period of Stay at Home, you could ask your family, friends or neighbours to help. 

You can register online with a wide range of retailers to arrange deliveries of food or other essentials while you are Staying at Home

Pharmacies can often arrange to deliver prescriptions if you run out whilst you are having to remain at home or other people can collect these on your behalf.

Self-Isolation Support Grant

You may be entitled to a one-off payment of £225 if you are advised to stay at home and will lose earnings as a result.  A PCR test is required.  If you test positive on or after 1st May the Scottish Government public health guidance advises you to stay at home for 5 days. You will not need to self-isolate for 10 days.

As the Self-Isolation Support Grant is designed to support people who will lose earnings as a result of staying at home, HMRC has advised that this payment will be subject to income tax.

Highest Risk Group (previously Shielding)

The COVID-19 Highest Risk List will end on 31 May 2022

We will end the Highest Risk List in Scotland on 31 May 2022. The success of the vaccination programme and the availability of new medicines to treat Covid-19 mean that the majority of people on the List are at no greater risk from Covid than the general population. We have strong clinical evidence to support this which our specialist medical advisers agree means we can end the List.

We will still be able to contact the people we need to if there's any need for any different advice in the future.

If you're on the Highest Risk List, the Chief Medical Officer will write to you soon with further details about the end of the list.
