8Notices of motion:-
(a)by Councillor Kenny McLean:-

"Council expresses its concerns over many of the measures contained in the recent welfare reforms announced in November 2010 by the UK Government. Council expresses particular concerns over the proposals to force the unemployed to work for benefits and believes it is immoral to compel people to work for well below the minimum wage.

Council believes that the way to tackle unemployment is by creating jobs and opportunities and therefore calls on the UK Government to withdraw these regressive proposals from its welfare reforms." View Papers
(b)by Councillor Mary Paris:-

"Council welcomes the introduction of Community Payback Orders (CPOs) as an alternative disposal to short prison sentences. Council resolves to ensure that CPOs be adequately funded to achieve the basic aims of safety, justice and reduction of levels of reoffending.

To that end Council also requires that the officer working group, set up to monitor the introduction of CPOs in Glasgow, have their membership and remit extended in order to involve elected members and to ensure a thorough evaluation of outcomes." View Papers
(c)by Bailie Dr Baker:-

"Council notes that the agreement between Cordia and Education Services to allow Cordia to sell snacks alongside school dinners has been met with opposition by staff and parents in schools.

Council instructs Cordia and Education Services to revise this agreement to permit each school to choose whether or not to have the snacks for sale." View Papers
