8Notices of motion:-
(a)by Councillor Matthew Kerr:-

"This Council is gravely concerned by the Coalition government's decision to press ahead with its plans to wholly privatise Royal Mail.

Council believes that this ideologically driven decision risks fracturing one of Britain's greatest public services, will put the universal (one price goes anywhere) service under threat and threatens the long-term viability of the Post Office network. Council calls on the coalition government to rethink its proposals and to Keep the Post Public". View Papers
(b)by Bailie David McDonald:-

Council recognises the significant levels of child poverty in the City of Glasgow. Council believes that poverty is a major life barrier to the chances of thousands of young Glaswegians. Council believes that control of tax and benefits by the Scottish Parliament would assist, by bringing potential solutions closer to those in need. Furthermore, Council agrees to work with government at every level, all partner agencies and the third sector to eradicate child poverty in Glasgow. To aid this work Council agrees to establish a working group on child poverty and establish a Glasgow strategy on child poverty which sets out the city's plans to tackle child poverty in line with the targets for the Child Poverty Act 2010. View Papers
(c)by Councillor Stuart Clay:-

"Council fully supports the campaign UK Uncut, for their consistent peaceful campaigning against UK companies involved in tax avoidance, especially 22 UK companies which are estimated to owe HMRC over £14.9bn in unpaid tax.

Council also believes that these tax avoidance practices directly impacts on local services supplied by Glasgow City Council, and therefore also supports UK Uncut's campaign against HMRC's own involvement in writing off substantial sums in corporation tax at a time of a significant squeeze on public services.

Council notes that its current mobile phone provider is Vodafone, further notes that this company has been the object of significant controversy around allegations that it has avoided between £4.8bn and £6bn in UK taxes, and resolves to investigate the possibility of refusing to renew this contract unless Vodafone can demonstrate that they pay the equivalent of the full UK corporation tax rate on all profits." View Papers
