8Notices of motion:-
(a)By Councillor Alistair Watson:-

"In the light of huge public outcry to the proposed closure of 9 Glasgow Railway Stations this Council calls on the Scottish Government to instruct its Transport Agency to withdraw its consultation document on the future of Rail and engage in meaningful consultation that will support the growth of the Rail Network in Glasgow." View Papers
(b)By Councillor Alison Thewliss:-

"Council congratulates NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde on being the first health board in the UK to achieve full UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation. This has come as the result of many years of hard work from the dedicated staff and volunteers, past and present, in both acute and community settings.

Council believes that this work has helped to encourage increasing numbers of women to start and continue to breastfeed their babies but acknowledges that more work still remains to be done to promote and support breastfeeding in Scotland in the future.

Council agrees to do all in its power, through Council departments and ALEOs, to promote and support breastfeeding and the principles of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative." View Papers
(c)By Councillor Mary Paris:-

"The Council deplores the intention of the Scottish Government to replace Prison Visiting Committees with an Advocacy service.

Prison Visiting Committees are locally appointed, voluntary, independent bodies which act on behalf of the public to scrutinise conditions in prisons. Their function is entirely different from that of an advocacy service.

Council notes that the abolition of Prison Visiting Committees was opposed by all those who responded to the Government's consultation, except the Scottish Prisons Service, and calls on the Scottish Parliament to oppose their abolition and to support instead their strengthening.

Council instructs the Chief Executive to send this resolution to all the Glasgow members of the Scottish Parliament." View Papers
(d)By Bailie Dr Nina Baker:-

"Council notes the publication of the Long Leases (Scotland) Bill in the Scottish Parliament. This will allow properties currently on leases of 175 years or more, with 100 years or more to run, to become the property of the tenants. Whilst it is asserted by council officers that this will not affect any Glasgow City Council properties, we nevertheless believe that it would be against the public interest for this to apply to properties in public ownership, particularly where the properties are common good. Council further notes that the public consultation period ended on 3rd February.

Council therefore instructs the Chief Executive to write to the relevant Minister of the Scottish Government to the effect that the council requests that the Bill be amended to protect publicly-owned properties and, in particular, Common Good Fund assets." View Papers
(e)By Councillor Danny Alderslowe:-

"Council wlecomes the launch by The Times of the 'Cities fit for cycling' campaign and supports the manifesto for safer cycling.

Council agrees to develop the action plan of Glasgow's Strategic Plan for Cycling to ensure further measures are adopted to protect cyclists from injury or death on the city's roads." View Papers
(f)By Councillor John Flanagan:-

"Council recognises the inspirational efforts of Tommy Whitelaw in raising awareness of the issues affecting the carers and families of people suffering from Dementia through his 'Tommy on Tour' campaign supported by Alzheimer's Scotland.

Council agrees to set up a Cross Party Working Group to engage with carers and to ensure that the services provided to carers are appropriate to the needs of the carers and those suffering from Dementia and that the Working Group's findings be presented by Council to the Scottish Government." View Papers
