(a)By Bailie Elizabeth Cameron:-

"Council welcomes the news that Glasgow has been shortlisted to be named European Green Capital for 2015.

Glasgow has made tremendous progress in recent years to become a more sustainable city and is establishing itself as a hub for renewable energy research and low carbon jobs.

Therefore, Council welcomes the positive effect being involved in this process will have on making Glasgow a greener city, commends the work of all involved in the impressive effort so far, and wishes the bid team well for the final stage of selection." View Papers
(b)By Councillor Jennifer Dunn:-

"Council recognises the need to protect young children at all times. Council notes that other cities in Scotland operate Child Safe Zones within their main shopping areas, and that the same zones are in operation in several of the standalone malls in Glasgow. These zones comprise of easy, low-cost measures to assist children who become separated from their parents.

Council therefore resolves to work with all city centre retailers, shopping centres and main public transport hubs into the city, to make Glasgow a child-safe centre.

Council also resolves to explore the possibility of creating a "Glasgow for Under 5s" scheme, including a website with information about the child-safe scheme, and details of child-friendly shops, restaurants and events, as well as the location of facilities for families with small children.

Council agrees that these measures, if implemented successfully, could increase the appeal of the city centre to families and assist Glasgow city centre to compete more effectively with out of town retailers as well as providing the city with enhanced commercial and publicity opportunities." View Papers
(c)By Councillor Liam Hainey:-

"On the 20th of April, places around the world will celebrate Record Store Day.

Council recognises and applauds the contribution that independent record shops throughout the city have made to the music scene for which Glasgow is world renowned and celebrated, as recognised by our status as a UNESCO city of music.

Council further recognises the significant benefits more generally that small local business bring to the culture and economy of Glasgow.

Council therefore calls on the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to publicise this event in order to support the city's independent record stores and their valuable addition to our city." View Papers
(d)By Bailie Martin Docherty:-

"Council believes that Elected Members of this Council have a significant role to play in public life across this city.

Glasgow City Council has a strong relationship with the voluntary and charitable sector in Glasgow. Council recognises the clear guidelines governing the role of board members when making decisions on behalf of their boards. Council notes the recent criticism by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator into the work of the board of the Glasgow East Regeneration Agency.

Council therefore resolves to provide training to all Elected Members on their roles and responsibilities when taking places on external boards." View Papers
(e)By Councillor Malcolm Balfour:-

"Council acknowledges the huge societal benefit derived from Concessionary travel in Scotland. Universal concessionary travel on buses for those aged over 60, the disabled and veterans - without means testing - provides both a valuable link for our oldest and most vulnerable citizens and a vote of thanks to those who have contributed so much to our society.

Council therefore agrees to continue to work with the Scottish Government and local bus operators to ensure that the Concessionary Bus scheme continues to provide a vital, universal, public service." View Papers
