11Notice of Motion to Council from Councillor Archie Graham

"Glasgow City Council expresses its concern that fireworks continue to be sold to the public in shops across the City.

These fireworks cause fear and alarm among many Glasgow citizens and are a real danger when used in an inappropriate way.

We firmly believe that fireworks displays should be in a controlled environment where there is no danger to either the public or the City's wildlife and pets.

The Council resolves to:

(a) Lobby Glasgow's Westminster MPs to express their concerns; and

(b) write to the appropriate Government Minister to request that he/she initiate legislation to outlaw the sale of fireworks to the public."
