(a)by Councillor Iris Gibson

"Council congratulates the Health Forum and Healthy City Partnership on promoting City Health Week 2002 in Glasgow. In support of this initiative Council calls on each member to set an example and endeavour to make a personal contribution to health improvement.

In addition to this, Council resolves that

(i) the members' buffet will not serve chips, cakes or desserts during the week, but fresh fruit will be available;

(ii) biscuits will not be provided to members at tea and coffee breaks; and

(iii) use of the members' smoking lounge in the City Chambers will be suspended for the week."
(b)by Councillor Tommy Sheridan

"Council notes the continued statements of intent and the alleged preparations by the US Government for attack and/or invasion of Iraq. Council condemns the US statements demanding a "regime change" under threat of invasion and notes the opposition to any UK involvement in such an attack from the church community, trade union leaders and the wider public. Council supports the anti-war demo planned for London on 28th September and believes the UK Government should be less subservient to the US and more critical of their military led foreign policy."
(c)by Councillor Tommy Sheridan

"Council notes the decision of the Health Forum South East to pass a motion of no confidence in the Greater Glasgow NHS Board over their handling and final recommendations in relation to the Glasgow Acute Services Review. Council also expresses its lack of confidence in the Greater Glasgow NHS Board for its failure to properly consult over the Acute Services Review and its decision to ignore the overwhelming opinions of even limited consultation, which was against the reduction in acute service status of both Stobhill and Victoria hospitals." and
(d)by Councillor Tommy Sheridan

"Council notes the serious flooding which recently engulfed parts of Glasgow's east end and the subsequent loss of household items and other personal belongings. Council calls on the Scottish Executive to provide financial assistance to these victims of the floods who were not insured for such losses."
