Glasgow City Council is a long-time supporter of the armed forces. The Lord Provost, on behalf of the city, will sign a new covenant with our military at a civic reception at the City Chambers to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June 2017.

Unfortunately there will be no Armed Forces Day Parade or Fun Day in the Square because the Military of Defence has withdrawn the event.

Glasgow City Council remains committed to supporting and celebrating our brave servicemen and women past and present. The Lord Provost Eva Bolander, in her role as Lord Lieutenant, will hold a series of events in partnership with our armed forces to demonstrate our enduring bonds of friendship and appreciation.

The first event will be the annual Armed Forces Flag Raising ceremony in George Square on Monday 19 June at 10.30 am. Culminating with the signing of a strengthened Armed Forces Covenant on Saturday 24 June 2017.
