Overview

A local development plan is required for each council area across Scotland. It allocates sites for new development, identifies sites to be protected and includes policies that guide decisions on planning applications.

Work has begun on the new local development plan for Glasgow (Glasgow City Development Plan 2 (CDP2)), based on the (draft) Development Planning Regulations, (draft) NPF4 policy priorities and the indicative Regional Spatial Strategy.

It is not anticipated that there will be a major shift in the policy approach within CDP2. The strategic aims and spatial strategy of the new Plan are likely to place similar emphasis on placemaking and sustainable regeneration, as set out in the current adopted Plan, within the wider context of climate change challenges and Covid recovery.

More details on the City Develpopment Plan 2 activities can be found here.
