Glasgow City Council

Analytical Unit

It is essential that our resources are prioritised effectively to deal with community safety concerns across our city.

Our approach is led by intelligence, so that each resource is deployed at the right place at the right time. Skilled analysts within the Analytical Unit interrogate and analyse data from across our organisation and from partner agencies. They have access to police and council databases and are able to use this information to develop a full picture of community safety needs across Glasgow.

The team provide a range of reports, including a monthly Community Safety Profile for each of Glasgow's ward areas. This profile work analyses current community safety trends and predicts future issues across the city.

The Unit also provides analytical support to a fortnightly Multi-Agency Tasking and Coordinating (MATAC) meeting, which involves senior managers from Police Scotland, Glasgow City Council and Scottish Fire and Rescue Services.
