Following an independent review which recommended the retention of those Spaces for People measures that could realise long term sustainability and active travel benefits, the following measures will be kept permanently:
- closure of east/west sides of George Square to all traffic, except cycles
- retention of urban greening around George Square
- closure of Hanover Street at George Square to all traffic, except cycles
- footway widening on George Square, and Hanover Street,

Existing parking bays and taxi ranks will be removed to accommodate the temporary works. There will be limited amendment to the existing bus stops and specific changes will be notified to Operators via SPT. Additional temporary taxi ranks and disabled bays have already been provided on adjacent streets. |
Detail: | The temporary works will be in place from Friday 26 2020 June for a minimum period of 10 weeks. The temporary works will be reviewed in line with the Scottish Government's Covid-19 Framework for Decision Making 'Scotland's Route Map through and out of the crisis'. |
