Let's Grow Together Fund

Aim

We aim to ensure that all communities can access, enjoy and celebrate growing spaces within Glasgow. This fund will help support these spaces and encourage others to become involved and grow their fruit and vegetables locally.

Criteria

  • Grants from £500 to £5000 are available.
     
  • You can choose the amount you apply for.
     
  • You should be a constituted growers' group or have partnered with an existing constituted group.
     
  • Your organisation, or your partnered organisation needs to have a bank account capable of receiving the grant money.
     
  • You can make more than one application, but no group or partnership will receive more than 10% of the total grant money available.
     
  • Your project should specifically relate to supporting the development of growing spaces within Glasgow.
     
  • Your project should seek to achieve the aim stated above.
     
  • Your project should address at least two of the following themes:
    • ​Climate Change;
    • Community Growth;
    • Health and Wellbeing;
    • Education; Environmental;
    • Diversity and Inclusion;
    • Biodiversity;
    • Growing Locally.
       
  • Your project should have some continuing benefit to community and growing spaces including contribution to new growing spaces to reduce allotment waiting lists within Glasgow.
     
  • You will be asked to complete an evaluation document at the completion of your project, or by March 2023 whichever comes soonest.

What we will not fund

The grant cannot be used to fund existing running costs or existing staffing costs.

Process

You will apply by filling out the online application form.

Please get in touch with the Food Growing team if you require a different format of the application form.

Applicants will be asked to upload a copy of your constitution or other governing document, a copy of a recent bank statement and an image to represent your project. This image will be used online to promote the project. You must have permission to use the image in this way.

The applications will be checked to ensure they meet the Let's Grow Together Fund criteria. They will then be peer reviewed by the Community Food Growers Forum.

Once projects are recommended for funding you will be informed if your project is successful, and the money will be allocated to your organisation (or partner organisation) before the end of January 2023.

What information do I need to provide on the application form?

The online form includes the following questions:

  • Which themes does your project address?
  • Title of your Project
  • Please tell us what you aim to do (max 1500 characters, including spaces)
  • Please confirm you have the landowner's consent for your project
  • What arrangements do you have with the landowner?
  • Please describe the continuing benefit of your project. For example, community, environment, biodiversity, wellbeing. (max 1500 characters, including spaces)
  • Amount Requested (£)
  • Total cost of the project (if different from the amount requested from the Let's Grow Together Fund)
  • If you have secured or requested any other funding for your proposal, please provide relevant information
  • Please provide a breakdown of expenditure within this proposal.  Note: After listing the last item of your proposed budget, select 'No' to the question about further costs. At this point you will be prompted to provide the total of all listed costs.

You will be asked to upload a copy of the governing document of the organisation applying for the Let's Grow Together Grant as well as a copy of a recent bank statement (for the same organisation). These are required to assess eligibility.

You will also have the opportunity to upload an image to represent your project. This is optional.

Please make sure you have all the necessary information at hand when filling in the online form as you will not be able to save your progress through the application and return to it.

The application is divided in three sections. You will progress through the form by clicking the 'Next' button at the bottom of each section. Your application will be sent to us once you click the 'Submit' button on the final page.
