Queenslie site to be sold by council, allowing the creation of 100 new jobs at city company

Glasgow City Council today (16 March) approved the off-market disposal of a 2.61 hectares site in Queenslie bounded to the north, east and west by Penston Road, to Alliance Disposables Limited (ADL).

Sale of council land will allow city firm to create 100 jobs

The disposal will allow Alliance Disposals - who distribute catering equipment and catering disposables to the hotel, restaurant and hospitality sectors - to expand their operations and create 100 new jobs over the next decade.

ADL is a major local employer that has been steadily expanding since its creation in 2003, and their purchase of the land at this site will enable a 25,000 square foot extension - for warehouse and distribution purposes - of their adjoining Scottish headquarters.

The purchase price for the site, an area of cleared land at Queenslie Industrial Estate, is £420,000.

A vole receptor site will be created there by ADL after the presence of water voles was identified.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Neighbourhood Services and Assets at Glasgow City Council, said: "It is fantastic to see Glasgow businesses looking to expand and grow in the East End. The sale of this land will allow ADL to increase the size of their operation and importantly, employ more people locally, creating up to 100 new jobs."
