Walks For All

Walking is free, fun and friendly, so what better way to enjoy summer by exploring new parts of Glasgow.

Have fun and keep safe

  • Wear comfortable, flat shoes and dress for the weather.
  • Walk with a friend
  • Take care crossing roads.
  • Keep children away from kerbs and open water.
  • Take a bottle of water, a mobile phone and a Glasgow A-Z map
  • Walk confidently
  • Tell someone where you're going and when you expect to return.

pdf icon Dawlsholm Park via Forth & Clyde Canal [789kb]

Escape the city and explore quieter parts along the Forth & Clyde Canal, up to Dawsholm Park, and down the Kelvin Walkway. A firm surface with some gravel sections along the canal. Mostly level with two short climbs

Distance: 3 miles
pdf icon Cardowan Woods via Hogganfield Loch [671kb]

Visit popular Hogganfield Loch with its resident swans and take in a spur of tranquil Cardowan Woods. The path around the loch is wheelchair/buggy accessible. The path through the woods is mostly firm and level with narrower sections of gravel/earth and one gentle climb.

This walk takes you through Glasgow Green, along the Clyde and across the new 'Squiggly Bridge'. Firm, level surface throughout but with two sets of steps on the south bank and a short ramp on the north bank.

A slightly 'hillier' walk through leafy Linn Park along the White Cart River. Surface firm with gentle slopes/climbs and some steeper sections.

Health Walks

A health walk is a free, short, gentle and friendly led walk up to 2 miles long for all ages and abilities. They are a great way to meet new people and take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. The walks are all led by trained volunteers.

Heritage Walks

Heritage Trails exist throughout Glasgow. With over 20 to choose from, they are a great way of exploring the city and finding out a little more about some of the sites and monuments along the way.

Clyde Walkway

The Clyde Walkway is a long distance walkway (and cycle route) linking Glasgow's city centre to New Lanark in South Lanarkshire. The walkway extends a distance of approximately 40 miles (65 km) through the scenic Clyde Valley and includes the spectacular Falls of Clyde.
