Covid Taxi/Private Hire Driver's Support Fund

What is it?

The Scottish Government have announced a one off Taxi/Private Hire Driver Support Fund of £1,500. 

This is available to Taxi/Private Hire Drivers licensed by Glasgow Licensing Authority who meet the eligibility criteria below.

This fund will be administered by Glasgow City Council. 

If you have a Taxi/Private Hire Driver's Licence in another local authority, you can only apply to one local authority for a Grant.

Eligibility Criteria

Please note eligibility will depend on the following:

Who is eligible:

• Those who hold a valid Taxi Driver Licence/Private Hire Driver Licence issued by Glasgow Licensing Authority for the period 9 October 2020 to at least 31 January 2021.
• Licensed Taxi Drivers/Private Hire Drivers who have incurred overhead costs and expenses and experienced loss of income up to 31 December 2020 (50% of turnover, compared with 2019).
• Have been working or available for work as a taxi/private hire driver up to 31 December 2020.

Who cannot apply:

• Excludes any drivers who had their Taxi Driver Licence/Private Hire Drivers Licence suspended for any period between 9 October to 31 December 2020.
• If you are in receipt of the Taxi Driver/Private Hire Driver Licence Grant from any other local authority.

How to Apply

Application should be made using the Online Application Form completing all parts of the form that applies to you. 

Please have the undernoted documents ready for submitting with your application when applying.

Documents:

• You will need to attach a bank statement dated within the last 3 months which shows your name, address, account number and sort code.
• A copy or photo of your current Taxi Driver/Private Hire Driver Licence ID Badge.

Payment of Grant

We aim to pay all grants within 4 weeks of the date of receipt of a fully completed application.

The information provided by you on your application will be used by Glasgow City Council in order to process your application.  It may be shared with other outside agencies in the interests of preventing fraud.

Please be advised that if any fraudulent claims are found, Glasgow City Council will seek recovery of overpayments, including pressing criminal charges, where necessary and may refer the matter to the Licensing and Regulatory Committee which could result in the suspension or revocation of your Licence.
