Update for staff regarding the Supreme Court Judgment

We would like to update on the recent developments regarding the recent Supreme Court Judgment in relation to Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scotland) Act 2018. This judgment ruled that the terms 'man', 'woman', and 'sex' in the Equality Act 2010 refers to biological sex.
Acknowledging the outcome and reviewing our guidance
We acknowledge the outcome of the recent Supreme Court decision and note that the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have provided interim guidance and announced that it will provide further update guidance for public bodies by the summer. We also expect the Scottish Government to issue revised guidance and we will provide updates in due course as we gain more clarity on what this means for our organisation.
Commitment to dignity and respect
At Glasgow City Council, we expect everyone to be treated with dignity and respect. Our commitment to being a truly inclusive employer remains and we're committed to supporting everyone during this time.
