During the events people will hear from council officers and Glasgow Life colleagues about their role in developing and delivering the plan.

The Gaelic Plan focuses on increasing the use, learning and promotion of Gaelic in services provided by Glasgow City Council and its arms length organisations.

The draft plan, available in English and Gaelic, can be found here https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=29268

For those who would like to submit a response to the consultation this can be done through an online form https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/IV7350/

The council is required to prepare and publish a Gaelic Language Plan every four to five years, through the authority given to Bòrd na Gàidhlig under Section 2 of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005.

The purpose of the plan is to ensure that the council increases the use, learning, promotion and awareness of Gaelic within each service area, Glasgow Life and other Glasgow family organisations and also that Gaelic-speaking customers will be considered and provided for in the planning and delivery of everyday activity, projects, products and services.

This is the council's fourth Gaelic Language Plan since 2009 and each one has strengthened Gaelic services for the people of Glasgow.

The last census showed that around 9500 people had some level of Gaelic language ability in the city and this was set to grow.

Recent research 'Gaelic Economy in Glasgow' showed that more than 700 full-time equivalent jobs can be attributed to Gaelic. Those 700 jobs provide around £21.6m per annum gross value added (GVA) to the Glasgow economy. Education and learning accounts for the largest proportion of jobs (58% of the total) followed by creative industries (23%) and then tourism and events (16%).

Glasgow is also home to the third largest number of children and young people in Gaelic Medium Education (GME) in Scotland.

Councillor Feargal Dalton, the council's Gaelic champion, said; "Glasgow is the urban heartland for Gaelic speakers in Scotland. Our Gaelic community is diverse and inclusive, vibrant and exciting. The language thrives in education, the creative industries, the media, arts, music and literature and the community continues to flourish as more people help promote the language.

"Demand for education through the medium of Gaelic continues to grow year on year and is helped by the promotion of the language at large scale music events such as Celtic Connections, Piping Live and the World Pipe Band Championships."

Faodaidh iadsan a bu mhath freagairt don cho-chomhairleachadh a chur a-steach, sin a dhèanamh air foirm air-loidhne aig https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/IV7350/

Tha aig a' chomhairle ri Plana Gàidhlig ullachadh agus fhoillseachadh gach ceithir no còig bliadhna, tron ùghdarras a thugadh do Bhòrd na Gàidhlig fo Earrann 2 de Achd na Gàidhlig (Alba) 2005.

Is e adhbhar a' phlana, dèanamh cinnteach gum meudaich a' chomhairle cleachdadh, ionnsachadh, adhartachadh agus mothachadh don Ghàidhlig taobh a-staigh gach roinn seirbheis, Glaschu Beò is buidhnean teaghlaich eile ann an Glaschu, agus gun tèid beachdachadh air teachdaichean le Gàidhlig agus am frithealadh sa phlanadh còmhla ri lìbhrigeadh air gnìomhachd làitheil, pròiseactan, toraidhean agus seirbheisean.

Is e seo an ceathramh Plana Gàidhlig aig a' chomhairle bho 2009 agus tha gach aon dhiubh air seirbheisean Gàidhlig a neartachadh do mhuinntir Ghlaschu.

Nochd an cunntas-sluaigh mu dheireadh gun robh ìre comais air choreigin ann an Gàidhlig aig 9500 neach sa bhaile, agus bha seo deiseil airson fàs.

Sheall rannsachadh o chionn ghoirid 'Eaconamaidh Gàidhlig ann an Glaschu' gum faod 700 obair co-ionann ri làn-ùine a bhith an urra ri Gàidhlig. Tha na 700 obraichean sin a' cur timcheall air £21.6m de luach iomlan (GVA) sa bhliadhna ri eaconamaidh Ghlaschu. Tha foghlam agus ionnsachadh cunntachail airson na co-chuid as motha de dh'obraichean (58% den àireamh iomlan) air a leantainn le Gnìomhachasan Cruthachail (23%) agus an uair sin turasachd agus tachartasan (16%).

Tha Glaschu na dhachaigh don trìtheamh àireamh as motha de chlann agus dhaoine òga ann am Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig (FMG) ann an Alba.

Thuirt an Comhairliche Feargal Dalton, gaisgeach na Gàidhlig sa chomhairle: "Is e Glaschu cridhe bailteil na Gàidhlig do luchd-labhairt na Gàidhlig ann an Alba. Tha a' choimhearsnachd Ghàidhlig againn eadar-mheasgaichte agus in-ghabhalach, beòthail agus brosnachail. Tha an cànan a' soirbheachadh ann am foghlam, na gnìomhachasan cruthachail, na meadhanan, ealain, ceòl agus litreachas agus tha a' choimhearsnachd a' leantainn air adhart a' fàs mar a bhios barrachd dhaoine a' cuideachadh le adhartachadh a' chànain.

"Tha iarrtas airson foghlam tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig a' leantainn air a' fàs bliadhna an dèidh bliadhna agus air a chuideachadh le adhartachadh air a' chànan aig tachartasan mòra ciùil leithid Celtic Connections, Piping Live agus Farpais Phìobaireachd na Cruinne."
