Tomorrow's Women Glasgow
Tomorrow's Women Glasgow (TWG) are an innovative and unique Justice centre based in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. We work with women who have very complex needs and are involved in the Justice system. Our main aim is to enable women to reduce their offending and to address their needs and issues that prevent them from living positive, healthy lives.
Who do TWG support?
Women from the Glasgow area who are on a Justice Order such as Drug Testing and Treatment Order, Community Payback Order or Structure Deferred Sentence. We will also consider referrals from the Diversion from Prosecution Team and Short Term Prisoners. Referrals without an order will be accepted if the woman has mental health difficulties related to complex trauma, is at risk of further offending and has multiple and complex needs.
How are services provided?
The referrer and the woman attend a screening process at TWG. The screening will identify needs, the woman's readiness to engage and risk assessment information. We use the Justice Outcome Star to devise the care plan with the woman, and at a later stage 'The Star' will evidence progression and outcomes. The focus of the first stage is safety and stabilisation. The care plan will enable the woman to become empowered to improve her life and reduce her offending whilst being supported by appropriate services.
A range of group and individual interventions is available including housing support, mental health, linking with community and statutory organisations. Also available is support to employment / voluntary work, benefit maximisation, safety and emotional regulation, relational skills and an improved sense of self.
TWG provides a timetable of group work activities with clear therapeutic benefits and goals. Women can attend these within the safety of the centre to provide structure, enhance wellbeing and develop skills.
How can I get a service?
Appropriate referrals are welcomed from various sources: Justice Social Work, Scottish Prison Service, Police Scotland, 3rd sector agencies and other social work services. Referrals require to be clear on the needs and risks, highlighting all agencies currently involved in the care plan and what the woman hopes to achieve from engagement with TWG.
The TWG Team
TWG are a multi-agency team comprising of Social Care, NHS mental health and the Wheatley Group. They are trauma informed and adhere to the principles of trauma informed approach: safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment and choice. We provide wrap-around support for women and work with partner agencies to address issues such as housing, mental health, addictions. Women have individual TWG case workers who are allocated based on that woman's needs. In collaboration with the woman and other services, an action plan is created and regular reviews are held with all services involved in her care. TWG and Turning Point 218 work together to enable a seamless recovery plan that includes 218 residential support and TWG community based support.
