The Sense over Sectarianism National Week of Action will be taking place on 24th - 28th February 2025 and we are delighted to announce details of our SOS National Poster Competition.
Poster Competition Categories
SOS Poster Competition - Pupils are invited to make Poster Art about the topic of Tackling Sectarianism with separate winners in the categories of Primary and Secondary Schools
This is a National Competition and schools from all Local Authorities across Scotland are encouraged to enter!!
The shortlisted finalist will take part in a public vote on Twitter(X) and Instagram.

The Glasgow Schools Hate Crime Slogan Competition will take place in September & October 2021 and we are delighted to announce details of the format and awards that are up for grabs in this competition.
Glasgow Hate Crime Awareness Week (18th - 22nd October) Slogan Competition aims to encourage collaboration and creativity that promotes an anti-discriminatory ethos in school communities.
Who Can Enter?
This Slogan Competition is open to all Primary Schools and Secondary Schools in Glasgow. We would suggest a maximum of 3 entries per class.
The Brief
Young people are encouraged to submit entries representing what combatting Hate Crime means to them, in the form of a Slogan.
Competition judges will be looking for entries that display thought and concern for promoting cohesive communities and challenge hostility towards protected groups.
Awards
There are two categories of awards in the competition:
(1) Primary School Award
(1) Secondary School Award
There will be a £250 prize for the winning entry in each category.
Judging
This Glasgow Schools competition finalists will be selected by an official panel of key people who are involved in various ways to challenge Hate Crime and to promote the reporting of all Hate Crimes.

- 4th - 6th October competition judging
- W/C 18th October Winners announced

Key messages to be conveyed to the pupils:
- Disabled people experience hate crime every day but it is often not reported to the Police - many reasons for this but key is that disabled people see this as "bullying" and something they just normalise
- Those who witness disability hate crime should report it
- There is little awareness of disability hate crime amongst the general population
- Disability hate crime can take many forms (including online abuse) and it is on the increase

The Sense over Sectarianism Month of Action will be take place in February 2020 and we are delighted to announce details of our SOS National Competitions and Awards.
Four awards will be split over two competitions:
- Art Display Competition (pupils will be invited to make art about the topic of sectarianism/tackling sectarianism)
(1) Primary Award and (1) Secondary Schools Award - School Project Competition (submissions to include a 2 minute (maximum) YouTube video)
(1) Primary Award and (1) Secondary Schools Award
This is a national competition and will be voted on by public vote via Twitter. Prizes of £250 for each award will be made to the winning schools. Videos will be hosted on the Action on Sectarianism (AoS) YouTube channel.
Key competition timings:
- 4th December comps open
- 31st January comps close
- 3rd February twitter polls open
- 10th February twitter polls closes at Midday
- 14th February winners announced

Glasgow Hate Crime Awareness Week Art Competition aims to encourage collaboration and creativity that promotes an anti-discriminatory ethos in school communities.
Who Can Enter
This Art Competition is open to all Primary Schools and Secondary Schools in Glasgow.
The Brief
Young people are encouraged to submit entries representing what "Hate Crime" means to them, in an artistic format, using creative media of their choice. Competition judges will be looking for entries that display thought and concern for promoting cohesive communities and challenge hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.
Awards
There are two categories of awards in the competition:
- (1) Primary School Award
- (1) Secondary School Award
There will be a £250 prize for the winning entry in each category.
Judging
This Glasgow Schools competition will be judged by an official panel of key people who are involved in various ways to challenge Hate Crime and to promote the reporting of all Hate Crimes.

- 19th August competition opens
- 26th September competition closes
- Winners selected Tuesday 1st October
- Winners announced W/C 7th October
