Harry was the elder son of Mr and Mrs Grieve, 3 Edmiston Terrace, Paisley, Renfrewshire.
On leaving school he was employed as an articled apprentice with Messrs Walter and W.B. Galbraith, C.A. During his apprenticeship he attended Glasgow University. At the University he gained a first place in Commercial Law.
He joined the Glasgow Highlanders in October 1915. After training at Ripon he left for France in April 1916.
He was killed at High Wood, France, in the morning of 15th July 1916.
