Porter, David 107616 (1898 - 1917)

David Porter was born in Barony, Lanarkshire, in around 1898, the son of Thomas and Agnes Liddell Porter. In December 1914, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for The Royal Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Glasgow Gallowgate branch.

During the First World War Porter left the bank to join the army. He served in the Lothians and Border Horse, and later as a Private in the Machine Gun Corps. He died on 22 November 1917 of wounds received in action on the Western Front. He was 19 years old.
