Alexander was the younger son Mr Alexander Rose and Mrs Rose, 56 Clifford Street, Ibrox, Glasgow.
He was in the employment of Messrs Stewart & MacDonald, Argyle Street.
He enlisted in May 1915 in the Glasgow Highlanders and as a Sergeant he saw service with his regiment in France. He took part in the Battle of the Somme (France) and was wounded at Le Transloy (France) on 1st November 1916. In August 1917 he received his commission in the 7th Highland Light Infantry and in December of that year he was attached to the Royal Air Force.
While flying in England his aeroplane crashed and he was killed on 6th September 1918. Lieutenant Rose was 30 years of age.
