Andrew was the eldest son of Ex-Bailie and Mrs Simpson, 1 Dumbreck Road, Glasgow.
He was employed as a house factor and was a keen Territorial, having joined the 1/7th Scottish Rifles in the spring of 1912.
On the outbreak of war in 1914 he was at once called up and along with the rest of his Battalion trained at Falkirk and Grangemouth. On the 24th of May 1915 he left Grangemouth for the East and after a call at Alexandria (Egypt) was sent to Gallipoli, Turkey.
He was killed on the 28th of June 1915. He was 22 years of age.
