The 'Let Glasgow Sing' event has been organised to bring together choirs from across the city's primary schools to showcase their joint talents and brighten up the day for passers-by in the square on a sunny Friday morning.

They were joined by the Leader, Councillor Frank McAveety and Bailie Liz Cameron in the square.

Schools Taking Part

The schools taking part included:

  • Saint Anne's Primary School
  • Saint Aloysius' College
  • Saint Thomas' Primary School
  • Saint Rose of Lima Primary School
  • Holy Cross Primary School
  • Saint Albert's Primary School

As Bailie Cameron, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning explains: "What better way to brighten up your day by taking a few minutes as you cross George Square than listen to the beautiful singing voices of Glasgow's children.

"I defy anyone not to be tapping their feet along to their performance of Glenn Miller's swing classic Chattanooga Choo Choo.

"The choirs have been rehearsing separately over the last few months but I am reliably informed that some digital technology has seen them brought together by the wonders of the internet to practise ahead of their big performance.

Songs

  • Stage Fright
  • Chattanooga Choo Choo
  • Highland Cathedral
  • Do you Hear the People Sing?
