Health and Social Care Integration

Within Glasgow City, Glasgow City Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have integrated the planning and delivery of all community health and social care services for children, adults and older people, along with homelessness and criminal justice services. This work is directed by the Glasgow City Integration Joint Board, with the Council and Health Board delivering services under the banner of the 'Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership.'

The Partnership comprises of around 12,000 Social Work (Glasgow City Council) and Health (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde) staff. It is led by an integrated Executive Leadership and Senior Management Team and it provides services through the three localities of North East, North West and South and directly provided day, home and residential care. Services are also delivered through health and social care contractors and providers. Some services cover the wider NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board area (for example, sexual health services).

The Partnership is led by an Executive Leadership and Senior Management Team led by the Chief Officer.

The Strategic Planning for HSCP services is the responsibility of the IJB and the two committees which support it.

Ways to get involved

Locality Engagement Forums

A Locality Engagement Forum is active within each of the Partnership's localities (North East, North West and South). They involve service users, patients and carers and link with established local forums, groups and networks to shape health and social care services and ensure they reflect the priorities and needs of local communities.

Consultations and Engagement

Periodically the Partnership and Integration Joint Board have formal consultation and engagement opportunities for people and organisations to share their views on specific proposals being developed for health and social care in Glasgow City.

Participation Requests

Under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, communities in Glasgow and across Scotland can now request to participate in certain decisions and processes made and carried out by public bodies, including councils and Health Boards. Participation Requests are intended to create the opportunity for people and groups to play a greater and more direct role in improving outcomes in their community.
