Our Staff Travel Plan - helping to change how we travel

Our Staff Travel Plan

Our existing Staff Travel Plan was developed in 2008 to help support and promote more sustainable commuting options to staff. These options also promoted better health and wellbeing and highlighted how staff could reduce their carbon footprint and the environmental impact from individual car use.

This plan is now out of date and our new Glasgow Transport Strategy (PDF) [3MB] - commits us to updating our approach given the current climate emergency. It is critically important that we look to facilitate the reduction of the carbon impacts of council related travel (both staff journeys to work and business travel.)

By sharing your journey details you have helped to shape our new plan

To help the development of our new Staff Travel Plan we needed your feedback into your current travel patterns and choice of transport - when travelling to your work place and whilst at work.

We did this through a quick and easy staff travel plan survey carried out at the end of 2023. Your feedback was vital to help us shape our new plan, consider existing travel options and schemes, identify alternative sustainable ways to commute and look at the feasibility of implementing new travel measures.

Watch this space for more information coming soon on what you told us and what we plan to do.

Whilst finalise our new staff travel plan don't forget that you can still make small personal choices to travel more sustainably.

Using public transport contributes to fewer single occupancy car journeys and the climate emergency - and collectively we are working together for the benefit of our city to reduce harmful emissions and our own carbon footprint.  Also, by travelling more actively you can improve your own health and wellbeing.
