Important Information about Glasgow By-Elections
Many of you will have received your polling card for the Glasgow By-elections taking place on 18 March for Ward 20 Baillieston and Ward 23 Partick East/Kelvindale.
A clerical error meant some of these polling cards contain the wrong information about where to vote. The by-election will not be using some primary schools as polling places, although primary schools will be used in the Scottish Parliament Election.
The correct information is as follows :
There are two By-Elections taking place in Glasgow on 18 March 2021 for the electoral Ward 20 Baillieston and Ward 23 Partick East/Kelvindale.
New legislation was introduced on 3 August 2020 which extended the voting franchise in Scotland. You can vote in this election if you are:
The deadline to register to vote for these elections has now passed. However, you can still register to vote for the Scottish Parliament Election. Click here if you need to register to vote.
In Person: If you are registered to vote you will automatically vote in person at the polling place on the day of the election.
Polling Stations will be open and following all public health advice with appropriate hygiene and physical distancing measures in place.
By Post: You must complete a separate application to vote by post which requires your personal identifiers: signature and date of birth which are used to verify your vote. A postal ballot pack will be posted to you in advance of the election and must be returned by the day of the election

By Proxy:is where you nominate someone you trust to vote on your behalf at your designated polling station. The person you appoint as your proxy must be a registered elector, qualify to vote in this election and they can only act as a proxy for 2 people other than close relatives.
You need a reason to vote by proxy. The are 2 categories for voting by proxy:
The deadline to apply for a new proxy vote is 5pm Wednesday 10 March
The deadline to apply for a postal or postal proxy or to amend an existing postal, proxy or postal proxy vote is 5pm Wednesday 3 March 2021
