This page lists all our *free health, wellbeing, equality and diversity training available for staff - along with other health and wellbeing events you can take part in.

(*please note the Acupressure massages are a paid session - you pay on arrival)

You can have a look at what's available each month by scrolling down each section.  Past training and event information is still available to view in the archived section on the right hand side.

To register to attend please just click the sign-up link provided. 

We work in partnership with several providers to deliver our training - so it could be delivered online or in person. Please check the details when registering. 

All training courses delivered meet our Equality Outcomes, Healthy Working Lives programme and Health and Wellbeing initiatives.

SAMH- Intro to Suicide Prevention 

This 2-hour virtual workshop will provide participants with a brief introduction to suicide prevention. It explores the latest statistics in relation to suicide in Scotland and the stigma that exists around this topic. Participants will also explore how to contribute to breaking down this stigma and develop the confidence to support someone who is having thoughts of suicide to seek the appropriate support.

Seated Acupressure Massage (Paid) - with Incorporate Massage

Discover the wellbeing benefits that can be gained from taking time out of your busy day to relax with a 15 minute (fully clothed) seated acupressure massage. The massage uses Swedish Massage Techniques and includes head, neck, shoulders, back, hands and arms, to help reduce stress.

  • Booked sessions take place, with Grace Taylor from Incorporate Massage, in the privacy of our City Chambers Wellbeing Room at 2.25 East Building - John Street.
  • Your session costs £15 for 15 minutes - please pay Grace on the day.
  • 8 available morning slots - every 15 minutes from 10am to 12noon
  • 8 available afternoon slots - every 15 minutes from 12.30 to 2.30pm
  • Booking conditions apply and 24 hrs notice required for cancellations (or you may still be charged).
  • Use Sign Up to book your 15 minute slot with subject GCC Massages and your name, date and preferred 15 minute time slot. 
  • See John Street reception for access to the Wellbeing Room.

Endometriosis UK Webinar - Adenomyosis at Work

'Adenomyosis at Work' is the fourth in a series of FREE menstrual health at work webinars, for employers and workplace representatives who want to create a supportive environment for those affected by menstrual health conditions. In this session we will explore what adenomyosis is, how it can affect people at work and what employers can do to create supportive workplaces.

SAMH virtual workshop - Looking After Your Wellbeing

This interactive virtual workshop provides an overview of how we can all look after our wellbeing in the workplace including the use of a Wellness Action Plan to identify our workplace wellbeing needs, how we can use practical strategies to build resilience, manage anxiety and prioritise self-care activities.

ENEI - Supporting Menstruation and Menstrual Health in the Workplace

Deborah Garlick and Sally Leech from the multi-award winning team 'Henpecked': Menopause in the Workplace will share their insights into why every employer must confront and dismantle menstrual stigma and taboo. They will uncover the profound impact menstruation can have on employees and unlock effective ways to support them, and look at how employers can develop a tailored action plan for their workplaces equipped with practical strategies to drive meaningful change.

Women in Leadership - Our council Women's Network invite all staff to their first informal event this year with Naghat Ahmed from Corporate Policy and Governance.  Naghat will be discussing what motivates her to make a difference, her career path, the challenges and opportunities along the way and sharing her experiences of being a woman in leadership in the public and third sector.  More information is in April Get Involved.

Race Awareness for Employees

In partnership with CEMVO, we have developed this training to give employees the tools to understand racism and cultural differences. This course aims to provide the skills and confidence to challenge racism when encountered in work and life. It also raises awareness of the relevant legislation - to address racism both in relation to discrimination and hate crime.

The aim of this webinar is to help managers and employers understand a little bit more about wellbeing and to give everyone information on how we can support our mental health at work. We'll cover how Able Futures can give nine months' advice and guidance to support mental health at work by delivering personalised information through the Access To Work Mental Health Support Service.

Renting, Mortgages, and Buying a Home

Emily Goody from the Financial Capability Team at Money Advice Scotland, Scotland's money charity, will take us through some of the main considerations when it comes to renting. She will provide an overview of the different types of tenancies, how rent is paid, other costs to consider and how to protect your rights as a tenant. We will explore the main types of mortgage products, discuss options when looking for a mortgage, and the other costs involved when buying a home.
