Council believes that poverty is a major life barrier to the chances of thousands of young Glaswegians. Council believes that control of tax and benefits by the Scottish Parliament would assist, by bringing potential solutions closer to those in need. Furthermore, Council agrees to work with government at every level, all partner agencies and the third sector to eradicate child poverty in Glasgow. To aid this work Council agrees to establish a working group on child poverty and establish a Glasgow strategy on child poverty which sets out the city's plans to tackle child poverty in line with the targets for the Child Poverty Act 2010.
