Submission Documents: By Councillor Kieran Wild:- "Council notes that the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill is a proposed change to the law with the aim of giving communities more powers to take control of land and buildings and to have more influence over decision making. The Bill is in its second stage of consultation and the consultation paper covers areas such as; giving community groups and Community Councils the right to request to be consulted meaningfully over a local issue, details over expanding "Community Right to Buy" to urban areas and how it will work, increasing the transparency of Common Good land and assets, how to better deal with defective and dangerous buildings, changing the Council's "Community Planning" system, changing the law on allotments, changing the relief schemes for non-domestic business rates and broader questions on the structure of local democracy. The Bill covers a wide range of measures that could significantly help Glasgow communities take control of land and buildings. Council welcomes the spirit of the Bill and will present its full response to the consultation paper to a committee prior to the close of the consultation period on the 24th of January." Help Icon
