Submission Documents: By Councillor Kenny McLean:- "Council notes its deep concern over the result of the EU referendum and its concerns over the potential damage to the economies of Glasgow, Scotland and indeed the wider UK. Council expresses its support of the Scottish Government's affirmation to citizens of other EU countries living here that they remain welcome. Council also condemns all forms of racism, xenophobia and intolerance. Furthermore, Council expresses its support for the Scottish Government initiatives to protect Scotland's relationship with the EU, Scotland's place in the single market and the social, employment and economic benefits that come from that. Council agrees that all options should be explored to protect Scotland's place in Europe and supports moves to begin to prepare the required legislation to enable a new independence referendum and also agrees with the statement by the First Minister that a second referendum on independence is "highly likely". Council therefore instructs the Chief Executive to write on behalf of the Council, to the Scottish Government, offering all possible support for its initiatives supporting Scotland's place in Europe."
