Please note that from 1 January 2024 the Topographical Test will no longer be sat in person, in writing within the City Chambers. The Topographical Test will now be sat in person, on the computer at Brooke Street Training Centre. Applicants will be advised of a test date and time by the Licensing Authority once a valid application has been received and the application fee has been paid.
Any individual who intends to apply for a Taxi Driver's Licence must first sit and pass the Council's Topographical Test of Knowledge.
The test aims to ensure that all Taxi Drivers have a knowledge of the City including the layout of its roads and the location of landmarks.

The application will not be accepted without the correct fee.
How to make Payment
Payment should be made by BACS Transfer (electronic banking) to the Licensing Board Account. When making payments please quote your Surname/Postcode/Topo Test as detailed below:-

Please note that your application will not be formally lodged until payment has been received. The fees are non-refundable.
Do you run training courses to help pass the test?
The Council does not run training courses.
Glasgow Taxis Ltd run the Taxi Training School which may be able to offer assistance.
