Requesting Information held by the Licensing Board
The Licensing Board regularly receives requests for information about licensing; most requests are made under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 ("FOISA").
This page sets out to provide information in relation to the most common enquiries. If you are considering making a Freedom of Information ("FOI") request please first check whether the information you are seeking is available below.
The Licensing Board aims to be as open as possible, however the Board is not required to make all information it holds publicly available. Some information requested under FOI may be withheld where an exemption is applicable.
Where an exemption is a "qualified" exemption it is subject to a public interest test. This means that the Licensing Board can only apply the exemptions to information when the board are satisfied that the public interest in withholding the information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.

The City of Glasgow Licensing Board holds personal data about other people. The Board has a legal obligation to make certain personal data available in Public Registers. The Board also has certain responsibilities as a "data controller" under current EU and UK data protection law.
If you are requesting personal information about other people, or an address that is not your own, please note that we are not able to disclose this information to you if doing so would breach data protection law.

As the Licensing Board is an independent body separate from Glasgow City Council, requests concerning information held by the Licensing Board should be sent directly to the Board and not via the Council's Freedom of Information Office.

As a public body, the City of Glasgow Licensing Board is required by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 to prepare and maintain a "publication scheme."
Publication schemes have to specify the classes of information that a public body publishes or intends to publish, specify how it publishes the information (or how it intends to do so), and indicate whether information is provided free or for a charge. All publication schemes require to be approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner, an independent official responsible for overseeing the operation of freedom of information in Scotland.
