Catering and FM Team Triumphs at Scottish School Food Awards

We are thrilled to announce that our Catering and Facilities Management (FM) team has been honoured with a special award at the prestigious Scottish School Food Awards. This accolade recognises the outstanding success of the "Full of Beans" campaign, a collaborative initiative launched in January 2024 by the Glasgow Food Policy Partnership and Glasgow Community Food Network.
The "Full of Beans" campaign aimed to promote the consumption of beans and pulses as part of a healthy, planet-friendly diet in Glasgow. By encouraging caterers to include more bean-based dishes on their menus and creating opportunities for different sectors and the public to participate, the campaign successfully highlighted the dietary and environmental benefits of beans.
Stephen Sawers, Head of Catering & Facilities Management, expressed his delight at receiving this award: "I'm absolutely delighted that we have received this prestigious accolade for what has been a fantastic and innovative campaign.
As well as a big thanks to our wonderful partners, I'd like to extend a special thank you to our hard-working and dedicated staff who have successfully highlighted how something as simple as beans and pulses can be a tasty and cost-effective route to a more nutritious diet, that supports a sustainable food system. This award belongs to the staff and is further recognition of the high standard of their work. Well done to all involved."
The Glasgow catering team work hard to create a Whole School Food environment. The team are also embarking on lots of new priorities in school such as food waste projects, cookery programmes and food growing activities across the city, continuously working to improve links with the Education department so food is part of the school learning process.
This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Catering & FM team, who have gone above and beyond to promote a sustainable and nutritious diet for our young people. Congratulations to everyone involved in the "Full of Beans" campaign for their remarkable achievement!
