Adult Support and Protection Case Conferences
What is a Case Conference?
Often things that have been upsetting and causing you harm can be resolved by talking with the people who know and support you.
This is the part of the process within Adult Support and Protection legislation (law) which brings the agencies who are supporting you together to share important information and make a plan with you which will make things safer. This meeting is called a Case Conference.
This will be arranged by Social Work Services. A report will be written by social work and this will be discussed with you before the meeting.
The Adult Support and Protection Act (2007) provides ways to offer support and protection to certain adults who may be at risk of harm or neglect.
What will happen next?
Each person may have different needs and questions about what will happen.
- the meeting process and talking about any needs you may have
- helping you prepare any questions
- having a say in deciding who comes to the meeting
- having the opportunity to have an independent advocacy worker with you as they can help you plan and better understand what is happening and why
- making sure you have the information you need in a format that suits you
Attending the Meeting
- consider where the meeting should happen and what support you will need to get you to the meeting
- supporting you to make sure your views are heard
- include you in any decision making to help keep you safe
- an opportunity to tell your worker if you have any concerns about attending the meeting
- at the end of the meeting we will then make decisions to look at ways to support you and protect you. These decisions will be multi agency and reached in discussion with yourself.
Your protection plan
- the meeting will consider if a protection plan is required. A protection plan is an agreed plan to help keep you safe from harm
- your protection plan will be shared with you and in a format that best suits your needs
Reviewing your Plan
- you will have the opportunity to discuss what is working well and not so well within your plan
- you may also be invited to attend a review meeting to discuss the plan, you will be provided with support to do this
Service User Experience Questionnaire
We want to hear your views about your experience of adult support and protection, so we can improve what we do in the future. We encourage you to complete and you will be supported to do so.
We also want to know about your experience especially whether we could have done things differently so we can improve what we do in the future.
We encourage anyone involved to complete the questionnaire.
