Winter Fuel Payment
Background Information
Following the announcement of the UK Government Decision to means test the Winter Fuel Payment, the Scottish Government has decided to mirror the UK Government in means testing the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment with the qualifying benefit being Pension Credit.
Eligible residents who may qualify will receive a letter (view here-HSCP Letter (PDF, 60 KB)) from The Pension Service or Glasgow City Council advising them of this change and providing people with details on how to apply. We have also collated details on how to find out if you are eligible and how to apply and contact details of organisations who will be able to help.
How to apply for pension credit
Can you self serve or could a family member assist you to apply online?
A claim can be made by using the Pension Credit online service if:
• State Pension has already been claimed; and
• there are no children or young people included in the claim
Pension Credit can also be claimed by phone or post.
