Latest active travel route designs revealed for Connecting Greater Govan
Residents and businesses are to help shape the latest plans for a new walking, wheeling and cycling network in their area.
Building on the connectivity benefits of the new Govan-Partick Bridge, the Connecting Greater Govan project will make it more attractive for people to walk, wheel and cycle in the area.
In addition to providing around 20km of high-quality cycleways - footways will be improved and public realm enhanced. Upgrading of crossing points and road junctions, along with enhancements to street lighting and drainage, are also planned. The new network is also expected to enhance connectivity with local amenities, community greenspace and public transport links.

Feedback on these routes is being encouraged through completion of a survey which is available online until Sunday 30 March 2025 - with paper copies of the survey also available at Elder Park Library and Community Hub, and the Pearce Institute.
A community drop-in event will also be hosted at Elder Park Library and Community Hub on Monday 24 February 2025 between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
Cllr Angus Millar, Convener for Transport and Climate said: "Our goal is to establish a City Network of active travel routes that connects communities across the city and provides greater opportunities to get about Glasgow safely.
"Projects such as Connecting Greater Govan are all about ensuring that walking, wheeling and cycling options are an attractive, viable choice for everyday journeys and I would urge the community to look at the detailed designs for the latest route proposals and share their feedback.
"By supporting new infrastructure for everyday travel, we can help build a fairer, more sustainable transport system that will reduce carbon emissions, boost public health and create safer neighbourhoods."
Transport Scotland's Places for Everyone programme, administrated by Sustrans is funding development of the route designs. Carole Patrick, Portfolio Director at Sustrans said: "We know almost half of people living in Glasgow want to walk, wheel and cycle more. This project offers people living and working in Govan the opportunity to do just that.
"Protected cycle lanes and improved crossings provide safety and reassurance for those travelling to schools, businesses and workplaces every day, whilst better public transport links help communities stay connected to essential services."
"As part of our efforts to tackle climate change, save lives and support economic growth in the city, we encourage all those living and working in the area to share their views on the latest proposals."
To streamline planning, funding and implementation of Connecting Greater Govan, the developed design routes have been grouped into two packages. The first package of routes was consulted upon late last year.
Construction of Connecting Greater Govan is ultimately subject to securing funding beyond the final design stage, with the council actively taking steps to explore all available options.
