Glasgow welcomes £28million investment from Halon Entertainment
Glasgow City Council hosted an event on 27 March welcoming Halon Entertainment, who work on globally-recognised film, gaming and television productions, as the company announced their £28million investment in a new studio in the city, to create up to 250 new jobs.
The company work on film franchises such as Mission: Impossible and Planet of the Apes, broadcast series The Mandalorian and games including Fortnite.
Based in Los Angeles, Halon Entertainment specialise in animation and visualisation technology and this will investment will see the creation of a new, state of the art, studio in Glasgow.
They were attracted to Glasgow by its computer graphics, animation, and digital technology; its thriving creative and digital economy; strong support from Invest Glasgow and Scottish Enterprise; and access to local production facilities, training programmes, and screen industry networks.
Chris Ferriter, President of Halon Entertainment, said: "It was a pleasure to meet with the Leader of Glasgow City Council and the Invest Glasgow team as we officially launched our presence in the city. Their support has been invaluable in helping us establish Halon Entertainment in Glasgow, and we look forward to working together to grow our team and contribute to the city's growing reputation as a hub for film, television, and gaming production."
Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "Halon's work is crucial to so many instantly recognisable film and TV blockbusters and it's hugely exciting that Glasgow is now a centre of production for these global screen successes.
