Biography
Ken Andrew was born in Clydebank however after more than 40 years living in Glasgow he considers himself a Glaswegian albeit an honorary one.
After a faltering start he started working for the NHS in 1978 as a theatre technician in the Southern General's neurosurgical unit. In 1984 Ken entered full time education at the University of Strathclyde studying prosthetics and orthotics, an engineering focussed quasi medical discipline gaining a BSc [hons] in P&O Science.
After some years working for the artificial limb service in Glasgow, Ken left to head-up the professional association, BAPO. During this time he gained a MBA from the University of Paisley.
Ken was elected as Councillor for Ward 11, Hillhead in November 2011 and is currently Depute City Convener for Health, Care and Wellbeing. He is passionate about maintenance and improvements to our built environment, cohesive communities and equality of opportunity and health outcomes.
Ken lives in Glasgow's West End, is married with one son and is a lifelong Partick Thistle supporter.
