Assistance for Disabled Adaptions

Phone 0141 287 0555  |  Text Phone 018001 0141 287 0555

This is a Grant to help people with Disabilities.

If you are a homeowner who is disabled or elderly or have a disabled member of your household, you may be entitled to grant assistance to help pay for adaptations to your home.

Grant assistance will be available only where an application is supported by an Occupational Therapist (OT) following assessment and for standard amenities only. The OT carrying out the assessment will make recommendations for the work to be undertaken, according to your medical needs.

Applications for adaptations will be processed through a 'Managed Adaptations Service' operated by Assisted Living, a division of City Building LLP.

What level of funding could I be entitled to?

As a result of budgetary pressures and the high demand for adaptations from applicants with Critical needs rating, no other applications with a lesser priority rating can be considered for grant assistance other than P1 - Critical needs cases. If you have been assessed as having a lower priority need, you will receive information and advice and will be signposted to other services.

Where an applicant is assessed as for Critical need cases only Glasgow City Council will approve a mandatory grant of 80%,  however if you receive certain specified benefits you will automatically be eligible for 100% grant for the approved cost. This is the full cost of the work required to meet the assessed need, except for the provision of additional living space (any extension other than a bathroom or wet room).

The benefits which mean an applicant is eligible for 100% grant are:

  • Universal Credit.
  • Income based Jobseeker's Allowance.
  • Guaranteed Element of Pension Credit.
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance.
