Renting from a Private Landlord
When renting from a private landlord the landlord must be registered on the Scottish Landlord Register.
If the landlord is using a Letting Agent, the Letting Agent must have a Letting Agent Reference Number and be registered with the Scottish Government.
Property Condition
All rented properties must meet the tolerable and repairing standard at the beginning and throughout the period of the tenancy.
If the property fails these standards the tenant of the property can report this to the First -Tier Tribunal for Scotland Housing and Property Chamber. You can get further information here.
Tenancy Agreement
All new private tenancies should be issued with a Private Residential Tenancy agreement.
