The City's footways, cycleways and carriageways are de-iced based on prioritisation and specialist weather forecast.
How do we decide when to De-Ice?
We have a contract with the MetDesk to supply specialised winter weather forecasts as well as four weather stations within the city which are used by the trained winter decision makers use to help inform de-icing instructions.
How do we support active travel in winter?

Where can I get free rock salt?
Small quantities of rock salt (maximum 10kgs) are available to the public at the following Glasgow City Council depots and local parks.
Please bring your own bag for salt collection.
