The beginning of negotiations on the lease was approved by the council in March 2022. |
The Glasgow Club Drumoyne is a 6.74 acres site featuring an outdoor floodlit 3G synthetic pitch, an outdoor floodlit 2G synthetic pitch, a grass football pitch, a grass rugby pitch, a four-court sports hall, gym and dance/fitness studios and changing facilities, as well as car parking.
Park Villa have attracted over £200,000 funding to improve the facility through new sports equipment, IT equipment, website creation, hub logo and signs, employing local people and a new footpath to the 3G pitch to increase accessibility.
The group works with 17 different organisations to deliver 10 activities at the facility.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Neighbourhoods Services and Assets at Glasgow City Council, said: "The successful running of Glasgow Club Drumoyne by Park Villa Football Development is another example of what is being achieved through the People Make Glasgow Communities programme. Park Villa is a fantastic local organisation doing tremendous work to widen sports participation in the areas served by this facility. The improvements they have planned will be a great addition to a community facility they are really getting the best out of."
