Glasgow Roll of Honour

The City of Glasgow Roll of Honour was first published in 1922.

Glasgow RoH

The roll lists the citizens of Glasgow who died during the First World War.

For those of us living or working in Glasgow, access to the Roll is easy. The original is kept in the City Chambers in George Square and another copy is available to view in The Mitchell Library.

However access is available only to those who can physically get to these locations. It was for this reason that the Scottish Military Research Group took on the mammoth take of transcribing the original roll and making it available on line to a wider audience.

Across Scotland some 148,000 men lost their lives, more than 18,000 from Glasgow. The City of Glasgow Roll of Honour and the Cenotaph in George Square were among the memorials created to those brave men.
