James Duff's Obituary in the Govan Press, 11th May 1918:
"Mr and Mrs Duff, 5 George Drive, Govan, have received information that their son, Private James Duff, Cameron Highlanders, died in hospital on May 6th, of wounds received in action. Pte. Duff enlisted in November 1914 and, after a few months' training was sent to France, where he was severely wounded and gassed in the following April. In June 1916 he returned to France where, having sacrificed his life in honour's cause, he now rests, with so many comrades.
"Where the foe and the stranger may tread o'er his grave,
And me far away on the billow."
Private Duff was educated in Govan and, in pre-war times, and enthusiastic member of Govan High School Former Pupils' Choir and Dramatic Club. Previous to enlisting he was employed in the printing department of Shieldhall Factory. He was of a singularly lovable disposition and his early death is mourned by a large circle of friends.
